What Targa is building
Targa expects to place three processing plants into service in 2026, including Falcon 2 in the Delaware Basin and East Pembrook and East Driver in the Midland Basin. It is also ordering long-lead items for two more Permian plants planned for early 2028, which would bring the total to eight plants over two years.
The company says that buildout could add about 2.2 billion cubic feet per day of incremental processing capacity and roughly 320,000 barrels per day of gross NGL production. On the fractionation side, Targa is finishing Train 11 at Cedar Bayou and preparing to start Train 12, with a possible 13th fractionator also under consideration.
Why it matters
Targa’s expansion shows how quickly Permian gas growth is forcing midstream companies to add takeaway, processing, and NGL infrastructure. The company has said its new plants will be “much needed at startup,” which suggests current and expected volumes are already stressing capacity.
